Crabbing Thursday seen a large croc go into the water up Marklands creek, no camera. My wife and myself went there the next morning, and there he was again easily over 3 metres, Here is a photo of the slide, as my wife was unprepared and the 1 photo she got was a long way off 719947199571997719997200272005

Love photo's of the top of the food chain, there's a big one in Boundary that we've named George, not sure why, the kids named it. Seen some of the caravaners from up the road at the old mans (Armstrong Beach) up there in the smallest of tinny's with outboards that are flat out beating the tides. Buggered if I'd go up there in a tinny that small.

Cheers

Crabbed Rocky Dam with the old man & brother for the last 30 odd years. Seen the odd saltie during that time. Agree with Corry, I was at Rocky Dam about 3 weeks ago with my son and was amazed when I spied 5 blokes heading out the front in a small tinnie with about 3 inches of freeboard.

Cheers

Wow. I might have to use the gaff to retrieve the pots now. I knew there was the odd one about in the area, but I didn't know they were that big.

Better off finding that out on here rather than out there :P

I look at croc sizes in terms of handbags. Looking at the slide marks that croc would have to be at least a 4 hand bag croc.;D

Rocky Dam is just around the corner from Cape Palmerston? Used to go to Palmerston and camp at sandfly creek when we lived up there in the 90's. I used to grab the floats until we saw one big F$%king bastard croc checking out our pot on a bank, and then several more in quick succession over the next few days. Needless to say Dad never dashed up the mudbanks again to retrieve a pot and I used the landing net to pull pots. Funny thing is we always knew crocs were there, but out of about 20 trips there we only ever saw them this 1 trip.

lol been fishin/crabbin Rocky Dam and Cape Palmerston since about 1973/4. There has always been big crocs in the area. We used to sit in the boat and watch the clowns use a drag net up to there necks in water at King gully chasing prawns.
