View Full Version : Daiwa Seagate?

Hi guys
any opinions on the daiwa seagate 3500h?
looking for a reel to match up with a finnor 30lb jig,fishing 30lb braid,mainly for heavy sp work,light jigging,bottom bouncing etc. any opinions would be a help,cheers.

They are a great little reel. Mine has caught a GT around 25 kilos and a Groper over 100 kilos already along with a variety of other fish. It's got 30lb braid and is well suited to the task. It's affectively the next model up from the saltist which is not offered in this size anyway.

I rate this reel above the Stradic.

thought it would be ok,would love to go up to a saltiga or stella but wouldnt use it enough to warrant the money. do you think it is a better option for the price bracket?

Just PMed you as well. It's a tough call if you are not going to use it much. The seagate is not waterproof and has nowhere near as good a drag as the Saltiga or Stella but both are a lot dearer!! Even the older model Twinpower FC is a little better as it's fully waterproof but is a little dearer again.

I have a Stella 5000SW and it's the best reel I've ever owned. The two just don't compare but you'll be very happy with the Seagate. The only spanner is the new Stradic has been released so a lot of shops are selling the FI model for around 170 bucks which is probably a better option right now unless you can get the Seagate at a good price.
Wait there's another spanner, I did find a store the other day selling Penn Conquers for a 100 bucks. They were marked down from around $270 so I got a few. Possibly not as good as the seagate but for a 100 bucks I thought I'd try a few out. PM me if you want the detials.

I looked at the Seagate and on paper it looked the goods. I ended up searching a bit more and got a Certate for the same $$$.

g,day micadogs....good buying mate nice reels the certate,i actually bit the bullet and bought a stella lastnight,couldnt help myself but havnt told the missus yet.
