Checked out the situation in the Pine this morning to see if the rain and strong winds had dispersed the weed. Started looking for lizards around the Redcliffe bridges using live herring. The good news is that the weed is almost gone. There might have been a bit more towards the top of the tide but it didn't worry me at all this morning.
Got one reasonable fish and dropped another at the boat, and a nice summer whiting (plus a large stingray), but the lizards seemed fairly quiet compared to how they were before the weed arrived.
Tide was pretty good to have a look for a few bream around the freeway bridges so I ran up about 9.30 and fished the second half of the rise. The bream weren't going mad - I only got eight, but the quality was exceptional. The best went 39cm (Soooo close!!!) and the next three were 35,34,33. There were also quite a few small jew (about 30cm) making a nuisance of themselves.
There was still a bit of weed up the river but not enough to present a problem. Hopefully we've seen the last of it for a while.
