View Full Version : Jumpin Pin Aussie salmon
I've recently started chasing the Australian Salmon around the pin. I've had some success on metal lures but wondered what other's have used with success.

I did really well today on 3 inch z man minnows and I have had days down there when they wouldnt eat anything I would throw at them including the kitchen sink.
You dont have to rip them in either.Slow and steady wins the race.
They are still down there in numbers but not what they were a month or so ago.

They are like any fish and come on the bite at certain tide times.
As far as catching them in the Ballina area goes, A shiny hook will work or anything up to 40cm long that resembles a fish.
Just dont fall in as that may make you a part of their diet;D

Fishing off the beaches I've found that an erratic retreive works the best, even letting the lure sit in the sand then taking off suddenly can entice them to bite.
