Hi all
Hit the water this afternoon in perfect conditions with new Ausfish mate Steve, the plan was to try for tailor, and fish late for snaps etc.
Just cant believe how many boats are constantly fishing inside the greenzone at South Reef, i mean its amazing, they musn't police it at all and the north beacon is missing as well.
We topped up with Pike and went north near Suttons to troll for tailor, which resulted in a few smaller ones, quite a few hookups and missed fish, before anchoring up with a berley trail. A couple more tailor and then we nailed an 62cm Flatty, then a 51cm Flatty, on baits put out for Snaps.
At Dusk Steve got a nice snap at 40cm, then my rod went off and after a good fight landed a beaut 61cm Snapper.
You could have thrown a stone on to Suttons beach from where these great fish were caught, great to see the Bay fishing so well!
Cheers

Made me very jealous reading your report and seeing the photos of what looks like a top afternoon. Congrats on the fish.

Flatzie,

Thanks for the great company and tuition this arvo. I hope we get to do it again whilst the cooler weather is with us.

Here's hoping the sight of those good fish will encourage the young bloke to come out again.

Best regards,

Steve

Great stuff, mate. The water's a lot clearer around there, too. What did you use to get the pikes? Also, what rig for the snaps? Great report.

Cuzza, I used my own jigs see my recent thread on that, I use circle hooks, set the rod and let them take it, no striking etc.
No Rainbow havent seen any big toads?
Bazza, great arvo enjoyed showing you around! Nice boat mate, love to have one of them!

hey flatzie. was out around the same area on the saturday for similar results. (maybe a few extra :P) and also noticed the amount of people within the south reef grounds. was quite angry but maybe if the area was CLEARLY marked people would stay out. but the government obviously cannot manage nor inforce these green zones...
anyway nice fish thanks for the report
