Hit my mates Pike spot last Monday arvo and then moved off for a fish before dark, out from Redcliffe.
Plenty of Tailor around, they were smashing in to bait schools and whacking my baits, ended up with two nice 45cm fish and missed a few more.
Then the rod went off and looking down at the end of the fight i thought I had a nice snapper , only to lift it into the boat and see it was a huge bream of 44cm!
Then one of my rods went over the side like a rocket while I was a bit slack, a 400 dollar outfit..OUCH!
Kept fishing and turned up a 43cm Snapper just before dark, and then another just 5 mins later, and too my surprise, the green braid from the lost rod was delivered to me by the second snap at 37cm, ans after gently getting hold of the line, soon had my rod back on board! Ya get blessed some times!!
While this was happening I was watching a huge storm to the south which turned out to be one of those weird hailstorms!
Beaut arvo out!
Cheers

fantastic catch...that 37cm snapper with your combo. I know exactly how you feel.
3 weeks ago I caught a 20cm sole that had found the braid from my 350 dollar combo which had flown out of the boat attached to a solid fish an hour earlier.

Im sure the floor of the sea is littered with Combo's! at least I got mine back to use again and good to hear others have such luck!
Have pulled the reel down Shane and cleaned all the salt out, hope it will live to fight another day!
Its back to the drawing board with my rod holders for sure, problem is so many rods these days are the slimline butt end which just slop around in the holder.
Bazzwoo..pm me again i will empty the box a bit!

Try a bit of thinner PVC pipe in your holder if you are using short skeletonized style buts. That Bream is a real Horse and looks in great condition. A lot of the big ones I have seen are long and lean

Huge brim flatzie almost bred with snapper lol. Mine was 41cm and that biggr again and they pull at that size with beaute blue lips. Good feed there to and the tailor have been everywere of late and fun when hooked but they be biting my light leader of late and making it hard on the jighead stock. Good post DD.....
