Hey guys,

First time post! Im lookin to get out for a fish sun/mon but having sold the boat last year was wondering if anyones got any pointers for me on somewhere i can drop a line from land? Preferably up around the bribie/donnybrook/beachmere sort of area? Any ideas would be appreciated,

Thanks!

hey mate was up in the pumicestone passage yesterday fishing the low tide with plastics, there are plenty of flathead around, walk the banks around the bridge on the bribie side, you should be able to pick up a few fish.

Blythy is right. Plenty of fish around the bridge. Been up there myself early last year and caught whiting and a couple of undersize flatties. By the sound of it those flatties have grown up!

hey blythy/dragman,

I went over bribie yesterday but had the tides all wrong but.. pretty much smack on high tide. walked the banks up past the boat hire mob once the tide started to go down cause i couldnt get under the bridge. only got one flattie at 34cm.
will try again on a run out to low tide.

Drive to Toorbul's first T intersection and turn right, drive to the end of that road. Boat ramp at the end. Wade either direction from the boat ramp and you should catch a feed quite easily on the bottom 1/3rd of the tides.

High tide is pretty crap for land based unless you really know the area well.

Cheers Jack,
Might give that a go this weekend.
Also, being new to plastics, how much should i work the lure? is slow winding ok or should i be really jerking the tip? combination of both?
I guess everyones got their own methods.

It varies a little bit between the different styles of plastic, the curl tails have a natural action to them and you don' t have to work them as much as the jerk shad style.
I usually give the rod 1-2 quick sharp twitches and then let it settle down to the bottom before moving tit again. in very snagy areas try to keep it just above the bottom. a straight slow retrieve can be effective as can just lifting the tip of the rod by about 45 degrees and letting the plastic settle down again. Every one has their own method and you can use different methods for different fish. Good luck
