I thought i would give a report on a great session I had at the Pin today. Couldn't find anyone to come with me so went on my own. I was keen to give a new outfit I had bought a try out,its a Nitro Vapor 1-3 kg rod matched to a Daiwa Luvias 2500r Reel with 6 lb Suffix 832 Braid. I hit the tip of Crusoe at about 6 .00 am and started throwing a Kangoku shad around, picked up two yellow tail pike and a couple of small flatties. After the turn of the tide it went quite so I moved over to Kalinga up near Duck Creek. Here I picked up a Tailor and a long tom on a Sugarpen Deep and a small Flathead. I started to drift down towards the bar and reverted back to the Kangoku Shad and things livened up a bit. At the end of the day I ended up with 19 flathead the biggest going 80 cm.I had a great session and was very impressed with the Vapor and especially how it handled the 80 cm Flattie

Wouldn't be telling the world (fisheries read this site) about your catch. Size limit for dusky flathead is 40cm to 75cm and the bag limit is five.

I am quite sure everyone knows the size and bag limits on flathead.
Great fish stik-ugly, love those Nitro rods...

Isn't it interesting how people can put 2 + 2 together and get 5.
Jimbo, Stick Ugly practices lure only, catch and release and seldom if ever actually takes a feed home. I can assure you he would not have taken any fish home on Tuesday and he would be offended to be seen in this light.
So before jumping to all sorts of conclusions consider what else is possible. It amazes me the increasing number of members on this forum who are quick to jump to all sorts of conclusions without considering all options.

hey mate well done. were they all on lures. i was around there on tuesday just baitin tho, only managed a few flatties around 40. still tryin to get the art of lures. plenty of little bream as well are out there. cant wait for the winter to try a few new lures for bream n flatties. the only lures ive managed to catch with are the blades. nice fishin mate
also prefer fishin for sport rather than food

Thanks Teejay24 ,they where all caught with Bassday lures, a couple with the sugar deeps and majority on the Kangoku Shads .They where mostly caught on run out tide at about half way before the bottom of the tide. I cast the lures towards the mangroves and drains up towards Duck Creek.I must admit that was one of the better sessions that I have had.

Well done mate, I've only been down the Pin and Kalinga Bank twice and returned empty handed, I did have one good run on a soft plastic but didn't hook up. The other time there were two boats trolling for sharks (ski boats and skiers) tearing up to Slipping Sands and back really quite day that one ::)

Ugly, While you were putting some hurt on the Flatties, did you come across some massive pike eel? It's just that lately, every time I visit the similar areas that you mentioned. If I'm live baiting or baiting for that matter. I manage to put a hook into these psycotic toothed bandits. And They can stay in the bloody water. Only their mother could love'em.
cheers,
Gav.

Great session stick-ugly
There seems to be still a lot of flatties up in that area for this time of year. I am heading out this Saturday & will be happy to find half of that.

I have been fishing around there lately. Mostly chasin flatties on high tides, not really chasing tha big girls, but a lot of fun on 4lb gear. Amazes me how agressive they are... great fun.

I've only been able to get down the Pin twice this year. No luck on the big flatties. Only been able to get some which are just legal. I'm not complaining though- they are still fun on light gear.
cheers
