hi zed,
just talked to a mate that went up there and the report I got was that the bottom end of the channel is still a bit fresh from the seymor/herbert so he put in at fishers creek and stayed in the northern half. Crabbed the benjamin flats area and done well but pots got raided alot. Fished palumah creek and got alot of barra but nothin massive with biggest going 75cm. Also got 2 jacks as well. Got one trip outside to the reefs but got chased back in by storms. He got one trout and got spooled on the floater in about half hour. The jetty is off limits with what yasi done to it. hope this helps

cheers from boony

I have really only done creek stuff there too mate but my advice would be to get a book called 'fishing north qld'. it has a picture of scott hilier from creek to coast on the front cover holding a red. Got my copy from bcf. A really great read with lots of help around hinchinbrook. There is a wreck just out off the east side of hinchinbrrok island called the sea hound. This mark and others are in the book but not sure on how accurate they are but would be a great start. If it is your first time there maybe getting a guide for just one day will help. I did this and it really improves your way of fishing the place. I went with crackerjack and he was good but next time I reackon ryan moody would be definately worth a try. And yeah mate fresh fish frames are the go for pots, some of the pros use roo meat but I'm happy with frames.

cheers from boony

Hi Zed

Haven't fished the Lucinda end recently; there's been a lot of dirty water from the Herbert. Should have cleared up a bit by next week though.

Have fished out of Fishers Landing twice in the last 3 weeks; water's been a lot cleaner there. First trip we lured the banks along the Boat Channel and some of the channels in Benjamin Flats - had a scorcher with my mate and I landing 15 barra and losing another 5. Some of these were escapees from the destroyed barra farm.

Went there again a few days ago, trying to repeat the first trip! Should have known better - a lot quieter (coming off the neaps), but still managed to boat 3 barra (plus an assortment of jacks, bream, etc.).

Good luck with the trip

Cheers Barbless
