Theyve been there a long long time-20 years to my knowledge.I understand from the sand miners they are now breeding in the brackish water. They are eating turtles, eels, and fish that are replenished each time the logan floods.

Recently a marine biologist who studied sharks told me that if some moron was to release a bull shark into the Wivenhoe, there's enough food in there to sustain a bull shark to grow full size..... evolution at work.

so obvious they have been feeding them for quite a while, having them come right up to the shore like that

Scott.
Floods in the early 90s.

I was a member at Carbrook from 85 to 05.
The course is on the Logan river where the Albert river joins.

We were flooded 4 times in the early 90s
Each time up to 3 days of 10 of foot of water across the course with the high tides.
As the water receded we would go out in a tinnie with a petrol water pump and fire hose to wash the silt off the greens.

Thats when the bullies came in.
I have seen 4 in 1 group, although the dredge operator says there are 7.
And they do breach.

Also, the hole is full of mullet.
In winter you could nearly walk on the mullet in the NE corner.
All trying to migrate north.

There are some stonker bream in there as well, and some of the biggest flathead anywhere.
I have seen a flatty resting in a foot of water at 1 of the culverts that feed the lake from the mangrove creeks. There are grates across the pipes with finger size holes in it.
The head of the flatty was dinner plate size.

Every now and then there would be a muddy wandering across the fairways.

There are no no fishing signs.

There is a fishing club that hold regular overnite campouts and fishing from the practise fairway.

I used to work for River Sands, the sand miners.....plenty of shark in the front and back pond......we used to swim in there in summer though, looking for golf balls.

Definitely no fishing now though...signs are everywhere and they are up you for the rent if you are caught (based on previous experience!!!!)

Oh, the way they were making it out it was the recent floods that gave the sharks access to the site. Like I said, sensasionalist Media...don't let the facts get in the way of a good story

If you go back far enough. They caught a monster man eating croc out of the logan river aswell. Good thing they nipped it in the butt back then.

Earlier sightings

In the 1800s, European settlers in Brisbane saw crocodiles living in the river, according to Snakes Downunder owner Ian Jenkins.
A giant crocodile was netted and shot in the Logan River in 1906. It followed reports that cattle and dogs were going missing.
Harvesting crocodiles was common in northern Australia from the 1940s, for skins and sport.
Crocodile hunting banned in Queensland 1974.
In 2003, there was a sighting of a crocodile at Noosa Heads, which prompted fear among tourism operators.
A 1.6m crocodile was found on the side of the Mt Lindesay Highway at Greenbank, Logan City, in February 2009.
The CrocWatch website listed three sightings at Hervey Bay and one at Fraser Island in 2009.
