hate to be a prawn.

Went for a cast at a spot where i had a few prawn jump in the castnet last night to actively target them.. After about half an hour i had 10...hmm so i was thinking ok at this rate i should get a kilo by dawn.. my flatmate was waiting at home with the thought of prawns for dinner and that wasnt going to happen.. he says he wanted to have seafood so i mentioned that there isn't much better bait than a live prawn.
A quick trip over to Chevron island at a spot i know has a bit of structure and current and a promise to get some fish for dinner was offered ( why do i put such pressure on myself) My flatmate is a frozen prawn in the middle of the day type fisho so it was cool to have him along at a good spot with the right tide and moon and with perfect bait.
I used 15lb flouro leader and a 1/0 gama occy hook with 8lb mainline on both rods and showed my mate how to rig a live prawn... out it goes, as im rigging my prawn Andrew says "Nath ive got one!" it took just 35minutes to go through the prawns with everyone of them getting nailed straight away!! the result was 2 small trevors, 4 big bream a flathead and 3 missed hits!!
Just got a text of him asking if we can go again lol!!
No pics though unfortunately left the camera and mat at home....

sounds like my prawning skills - i agree live bait works so much better

theres a proper way to rig up a live prawn? would you care to describe - might help me be a better fisherman instead of bumbling around working out what im doing

hey sorry mate i didnt see this question... just pin them lightly through the bend in the tail.. its the "flicking" they do that attracts all the attention, when you feel them do this through the braid it means they have seconds to live :)
