Shark ID

Caught this metre long fella off Redcliffe on Saturday. I wouldn't know a shark from a guppy so if anyone can help with an ID from this the picture, it would be appreciated.

not 100% sure,other guys will not more for sure but i think its a black tip reef shark?

It is a small whaler shark. They are pretty common at that size.

The photo is not good enough for a positive on exactly which species of whaler. Need to know if it had a ridge between the dorsal and caudal fins, need to see the snout from above, and need to be able to see the height of all fins.

Good fun the little sharks.

As Jeremy said it is a whaler and they all look pretty similar.
The Black Tips normally have a black mark on the top fin and the Dusky has a nick in the back of the top fin.
Could be a baby Bull Shark, good eating at that size.

after doing a little research last night i see that the black tips do indeed have large black tips on the top fin,i assumed this one was one with the black tips on the side fins,wrong again ::) !are there size limits or bag limits on sharks like

Thanks guys, I know it difficult to ID from photos so thanks for taking the time to reply. I was tempted to keep it but didn't know the regs on sharks either as I don't target them.

Looks like a Bronze whaler.

Regs on sharks and rays are 1 fish per person up to 1.5 mtrs in length no bottom size limit. Good fun on light gear and not bad on the chew at that size also the added bonus of no bones so great for younger kids.
