The plan was to have a crack at a threadie or jew around the port from sunset on but unfortunately the port area was closed by the Water Police due to a chemical spill on the wharves. So I tried the pipeline for a while and then Cementco wharf for no result.
I have heard of bream taking lures at night but have never tried it. So off to a favourite spot down towards the Gateway.
The session was amazing. In 1 1/4 hours I landed 25 bream. It was a hit a cast at one stage but they struggled a hookup. On some casts the lure would get hit 5 or 6 times. The best retrieve was to wind as slow as possible so that the lure was still working. All fish were hooked on the rear trebble.
A few fell to Jackall squirells and and R2S DF40 but the best was either Atomic Hardz deep 38 or Ecogear SX48. The majority were between 25 and 28 with the 3 biggest at 30, 31 and 32. All released to fight again another day.

Their going off Dave, Its been a while since they've been this aggressive ,reminds me of about 3 years ago. I made the same comment on one of my last reports where all fish were hooked on the rear trebles. we had a triple hook up the other day. and the slow wind but don't be afraid to stall the lure . We were getting hit while the lure was stationary. Would have been fun in the dark mate. Great effort

I tried the pause and they were still hitting it but at night you can't see the line so it makes it very hard to know when to lean on them.

Mate, they came straight out of the tank. Maybe it's because the photo was taken at night using the flash. The ecogear sx48 is a minnow style.

I was using 4lb Berkley Fireline with 6lb fluro leader.
