Took the young fella fishing yesterday at Maroochy.Didnt have to much trouble cast netting some mullet and gar. Some of the mullet were eating size!Fished mostly at our fave spot near petrie creek using prawns and flesh baits aswell as livey hanging out the back.Caught quite a few just legal bream and a few keepers at 28cm.Also caught a few grunter and small moses perch.Had a few runs on the livies. On one good run a set the hook and a 2-3 foot grey and white torpedo launched out of the water about 20m from the boat I called it for a bully from what I saw and it cut me off at the hook on 15lb trace.
Attached is a pic of the youg fellas two biggest bream and a pic of the shell i keep pulling off the bottom.I think the bream like the bottom there anybody got any idea what kind of shells they are doesnt seem to be any life in them but they are all over the bottom.

yeah great offer actually. 134 k per annum operating a digger week on week off fly in and out of darwin.....which means with holidays thrown in i will be only working 4.5 months of the year;D Nothing new to me really as thats my background anyway (diesel fitter by trade) and the only reason i moved down here was i was flying in and out of brisbane but the company went bust during the GFC when all mineral prices went to shit. Been living on normal wages and hours for nearly 2 years now and now that ive seperated from the missus (no kids) im going to go up there and live the life for a while. spoke to col from origin boats this morning (my brother works for origin) and will be getting a 4.6 platey with all the trimmings built within the next few months so the plan is to wear out an engine each year due to fishing to much;D

it works out the same hours as most people though, for the week you work you do 7x12 hour shifts (84hours).

it looks like a black pearl shell as they grow in the rivers and mangroves too.
