Hi guys

I hvent been fishing long eg - 2 years anywyas I have been surf fishing once with an alvey and it was alright bit I love spinners

Since then I bought a boat and have a couple of small rods namely a dropshot 4-8kg and a 7' starlo stix 2-4kg

Have a Stradic ci4 with 2500 and 3000 spools and also a Penn 750 or 850 ssm

Now I want to go surf fishing again and was looking at life fibre 10' rods but honesty have no idea what I'm looking at and bcf didn't even look at me after 20 min of playing with them

Now thi might be a silly question but would a Stradic go on a surf rod? If not would the Penn be alright?
Are there lengths to look for?
Type of fishing would be off Fraser , gutters or rocks

Finally would I get away withy starlo stix and Stradic?

Cheers Ryan
Sorry for being a real noob

Personally I'd keep the nice stradic off the beach and use the Penn.
2 rods, one 10 foot long rated to say 4-6kg for whiting bream dart flathead and chopper tailor. Light weight outfit for casting light-weight rigs and baits. You could use the stradic on this but keep the sand off it.....
Second rod 12-15' rated to 8-15kg for large tailor, mulloway and off the rocks.
Wilson, Gary Howard, Snyderglas or Nitro, Daiwa and Shimano for a more modern rod. Heavier outfit for casting large baits and sinkers.
You could add a 3rd rod if you like, a specialist surf spinning rod.....
Make sure you have the reel seat in the right place for your spinning reel.
Go to a real tackle store and speak to someone who knows a bit about what they sell, but determine the limits of your budget beforehand!
Cheers.

Learn to love the Alvey on the beach and you won't be peeved when sand gets in the spinner and puts the stoppers on your day/trip/holiday.

Hi,

Nigel and Finga have it pretty well covered.

You certainly don't want sand in a reel such as a Stradic, or any spin reel for that matter. If you are looking at putting a spinning reel on a surf rod, then make sure the reel seat is the right distance from the end of the butt.

I use spinning reels regularly off the beach but normally only when spinning metals where the rod does not leave your hand. For most applications I use an Alvey
