Found a school of jew and a few threadfin last night around the Gateway area, fish were feeding quite aggressive and the baits didnt last long. Ended up with 5 jew and a threadfin, the threadfin put on quite a display with 3 aerial displays. Also got a beast tailor going 60cm

having a very poor jack season in Hervey Bay Stotty, thanks for asking...... Theres still a few in the Burrum river, but Im concentrating on exploring new ground around RIver HEads. Theres threadies, jew, and barra to be worked out, so Im happy with a new challenge. Most of the local jacks have been pond donkeys, and I dont do LB. The queenie was nice bycatch, I sent the pic to BnB, lets see if they use it.

I miss the gold coast rivers where the jacks are plenty, but targetting new species makes you a better fisho. I reckon threadies hit harder than jacks anyway. score is me 0/threadies 3 so far, lol. They love to tangle in the anchor rope dont they?

cheers
Andrew

Thankfully you ain't here gecko - it's hard enough catching decent Jacks without a bloke like you in the way :)

Be nice to fish some new water and try and suss it out mate, sound fun. Yeah I would have to agree, I would much prefer catching a good size thready to a jack, they really put on a fight.

Yup, they love that anchor rope once near the boat.

Nice fish mate, im still yet to get me a nice threadie and jew down here. I got my pb jack down here after living in north Qld all my life lol he went 60cm and i think they crap all over threadies for a fight when the get that size, they go like a cut cat.
