Redclaw footage Fairbairn Dam Dec 2010

Here is some redclawing footage from our local dam which is Fairbairn (or lake Marraboon) positioned about 20km outside of Emerald. The video editing was a quick one but did come up ok. In this video is myself, my missus Amanda and her brother Mitch. The footage was taken around christmas time 2010 just before we received our major flood. Enjoy :P

Great video Boony,,Making my mouth water mate...Couple of little questions,,,What bait did you have in the bottles ?? & what is the best way to cook em?? We tried for a week at Borumba last year & only got 36 & did them up in garlic butter (bloody good).

gudday barry, the bait in the bottles is only dog biscuits and I normally use a bit of rockmelon or corn cob and skewer it onto the wire from the bottle. We normally butterfly them by cutting them straight down the back then use a marinade of your choice and leave them soak in it overnight. Was going to put some video of preparing them for the pan but didn't get round to it. A mate of mine knocked this marinade up over new years: tomato and bbq sauce, garlic, bundy rum, ginger ale and some chillie sauce. Don't ask me how much of what cause we were a bit pickled at the time :p Also got shown a way to cook them up like a oyster kilpatrick but haven't tried it yet. Got some more footage I will post soon when we were redclawing when our dam was at 176%. Took 3 women out to do a run and it was fun and full of laughs and a challenge :) We got over 300 for 2 days with 12 pots over new year and most of them were snodgers :)

nice one lump, but that sort of video might be better suited somewhere else :P

And it seems that during and after a big wet the redclaw numbers in our dam seem to boom. It has happened everytime so far. 8-)
