Took the family out for a day of fishing yesterday. Started off at NPD with a small hawl of 8 redclaw and 30 gar. The gar were great fun for the kids, so easy to catch which keeps them entertained for hours.;)
Back home for a rest, and then down to Southport to chase jew and tailor off the beach. Conditions were unbelievable. A slight offshore wind kept the chop down and at times there wouldn't be one wave breaking in front of me. I rigged up with a gang of 3 x 4/0s and used the gar I caught from NPD as bait. As the sun was going down, I lost the tails off 3 gar. So added an extra hook to the bottom of the gang. This time I was hooked up instantly. Caught 2 tailor, biggest weighed just over 1kg. A big day, But loads of fun. ;D Scarby.
