G'Day All, I need a new battery for my electric motor. It's a 44lb pushing a 3.9m tinnie. I only use it on and off for a few hours once a week or two and only to correct my drift not for trolling. The thing is, with christmas apon us i cant lash out and buy the biggest and best on the market so the question is what would be the smallest i can get way with just to do me for now ? I know it's silly to buy a cheap one now than fork out more down the track but thats better than skimping on my kid's chrissy presents.
Cheers TT

hi tailortaker id be saveing and get a good sealed amg120amp battery if you buy one now for say $250 to $280 for a 80 or 100amp batt you might not get the life out of it ,you will get a far better life out of a top quality battery for about $150 dollers more not nowing what brand of electric you have or weither it has a maximizer or not makes a big difference but do shop around and you should get a good deal somewere just remember more amps less drain more life cheers chris.

Thanks Chris i know what your saying is right but if you read my first post i need a cheaper option just for a short period than i'll buy a better battery, i realise what battery i should have but unfortuntley it's not the best time to be spending that sort of coin. Kids christmas presents come first.

Another alternative is on ebay . Do a search for item number 140431204368.
Reconditioned trojan 120ah deep cycle with one years warranty for $120 pick up from southport.

is not buying a battery until after christmas an option? if so i would recommend going for something like this: https://www.whitworths.com.au/main_itemdetail.asp?cat=123&item=4138&intAbsolutePage=1
otherwise if you are looking to purchase right away then something like this will get you by. you may need to do a quick charge between trips which you should be doing irrespective of battery size anyway.
https://www.whitworths.com.au/main_itemdetail.asp?cat=123&item=4093&intAbsolutePage=1
i also assume you have a multi-stage charger otherwise cost is another factor there.
any questions fire away as i just put my electric set up together.
cheers

Hi TT
I got my last battery from Rick at Atlas Batteries 0411876566 he is mobile working out of Ipswich.
It is an Allrounder 105 A/H Deep cycle $165.
He had a pallet load of these batteries, maybe he has some left.
Good luck with the search.
Cheers Andrew

I know it might upset you rather than help you... but springers solar have a heavy discount on batteries at the moment.
That will get you onto a 100AH us made lifeline AGM for under $400.
Not sure what else they have.

if its just to tide u over till say autumn.
Buy a frign car battery to tide u over.
Sure its not ideal, but far cheaper option.
As u say its use is to correct your drift, same use as I & I got away with a car battery for over year with similar weekly use.
