Is this for real..??

This link shows footage of quite large fish jumping all over the place and even into the boat. At first I thought it was a photo-shop set up, but it appears real enough!

Definitely real. Have heard of the same happening in various other places in the world. I wonder why they bleed when they're in the boat - must be from the impact, in which case, they must be pretty soft fish. Either way great to watch, and funny commentary from those two blokes.

I just saw a show on the National Geographic Discovery channel.

These fish jumping all over the place are called "Silver Carp" and were introduced from Europe (sheesh...or was it Asia!?)

Anyway, they were introduced from somewhere. A guy had them in a fish farm and gave a few to a scientific research mob who put them in a dam to see if they'd feed off the algae and there was a flood. The fish got into the river and rest is history.

These silver carp are heading further & further up the Mississippi River and are especially problematic in the Illinois region. They SPOOK easily and jump out of the water at the sound of a boat motor. Noone in those areas even goes water skiing anymore - too dangerous.

Apparently the silver carp go through three spawning cycles per year. Environmental & scientific authorities are dreading the day when they make it up into the Great Lakes system.
