I know they put a lot of minced chicken in it. We used to have a work shop next door to them at morningside and they were originally a supplier of chicken pieces.

Hey
Think i heard somewhere that RJ'S have gone out of business. Don't quote me on that.
We have the rj's canister and found it easy to use plastic drink bottles cut off at the neck. We used old bait that had been in the freezer, cat food, cat biscuits, tuna oil, old pilchards cut up in pieces, also some bread crumbs; packed it in tight as we could. Bottles are now in plastic bags in freezer and ready to grab when needed.
Smelt to high heaven when we where doing it but works alright. Find the 1.5 litre bottles are best.

I've been mixing tuna oil, pillies and cat food in little plastics cups and freezing it. Just stab a few holes in the cup, tie it off to shore or jetty and throw it in the current. Been told it's the 'gun' way to get some bull sharks, but haven't caught any yet! Maybe tomorrow night will be it....

Chook pellets, Tuna oil and minced fish (pillie & Tuna are great). Just fill a slit piece of PVC pipe the right diameter (vege oiled). Pull out after freezing and run the pipe uner warm water then knock out the burley bomb.
You can add water and gelatine to make it hold together longer

Punch a few largish holes in the side of a can of kitty cat pilchard and tuna.
Tie some rope through two of the holes and over the edge it go's.
every now and then give it a bit of a jig to release a bit of the cat food.
if its not really deep let it out to the bottom and fish in the burley trail.

Also the ol man used to use one of those old fashion manual food mincers where you feed what ever in thru the top and out the side came this slush. he used to put everything thru it frames, heads, pillies, any old bait, prawn shells and mix it with sand. apart from the food parts attracting the fish, the sent would stick to the sand that would sink to the bottom and work the same.

I too use one of these mincers it took me quite a while to find one in a second hand shop and I had to get a new nut for the cutting plate made by a mate with a lathe but I tell you what just about anything will go through it.
When I realise I need to make some new stuff up I start to freeze things like crab shells, prawn heads, fish frames (mainly Whiting) and of course throw in the old chook pallets and tuna oil as you are minceing.
I then freeze my burley in old chinese takeaway containers which fits perfectly inside my home made burley bucket which was mades out of left over 4" PVC pipe and fittings.
