Hi Guys,

Got a "basic" Humminbird 385cxi combo with the new boat,
In general, the sounder has been working OK but last night it was not working properly, tried every setting in the book but could not fix the screen?

I don't have a card to do screen captures yet so will have a go at describing what I'm seeing,

I'm not getting a full picture of the bottom, there is just a couple signals and then about a cm gap of just white?

Checked the transducer to see if weed or something was on it but nothing there?

Do you think the sounder is faulty?

Even tried sending the sounder settings back to default but even that did not change anything

Regards,
Gary

I have taken the sounder back to the dealer, he doesn't know either,
Has sent it back to the agent,

Why the post?
just thought some may have an idea of possible "operator error" that I had not thought of before sending to the agent and the possibility of wasting their time,
Regards,
Gary

Were you at speed, drifting, or stationary?
How far below the level of the hull is the top of the transducer?
Is the rear of the transducer pointed slightly downwards?
Transducers can be pr&*%s of things if not set up 'just so'
Did you try using just the sounder capability only?
Sounds strange to suddenly go 'on the blink' though.......prolly not a good omen.
Hopefully a new replacement is 'in the mail'.
Cheers.

Hi, Tks for your reply,
As luck would have it, flat calm all day, sounder was working good at most speeds to and including 10kts, (had the same result stationary, drifting and under way)

Transducer looks level, and, approx 100mm below water and the bottom of the transducer,

looking back, it has been strange that I have not seen any arcs or fish symbols (when switched on), and we had snapper below and were landing them?

Will be interesting to see if there is any difference with the "repaired", or new unit

Regards,
Gary
