Hi Guys,

Just picked up the new boat today and starting to play with all the new toys,
In particular,
A Humminbird 385 ci GPS fish finder,

As part of the deal,
A Navionics Gold Charts with the SD card installed,

So far all good,
After doing some reading of the manual, I see I can get screen snapshots and record on an SD card,

Question,
If I remove the SD card, (the Navionics Gold one), will I loose all the maps?

I would assume that screen captures would not normally be recorded on the Navionics card?

Sorry if this is in the manual, just can't seem to find what I'm looking for

Regards,
Gary

Mae, I just had a bit of a bo-peep through the manual.
Not very helpful are they.

But from what I read there is only one SD slot. Is this right?
If there is only one SD slot then yes to your question. If you use the snapshot feature you'll have to remove your Navionics card and install a SD card to record on.
But there should be maps of Australia already in the unit from what I read.

It might be worth a call to BLA (Bob Littler Agencies at, or near, Hemment)

the snap shot will be loaded on the units memory then you remove the gold card and put in a blank card and upload it to the blank one as i believe the navionics cards are write protected.

Tks for your help guys,
Your right,
A quick call to BLA may be the way to go,
Will leave the card in place until I know for sure as I'm out testing tomorrow and like to know where the reefs are

Gary

its fine to take the navionics card out, nothing will get lost as long as you dont lose the card :)

Tks for your input,
Actually, asked the dealer yesterday and he said the charts would be lost until I put the card back in again?
He said the only way to retain the charts and save data at the same time was with the "dual slot" model that enabled you to have the Navionics card in as well as the SD card for saving

As for the unit itself, quite happy with the performance so far, glad I purchased the gold charts, as it turned out, it was very black last night and the charts just made it a lot safer getting home

Gary
