Keeping an eye on the weather, I was hoping to get offshore to somewhere decent through SPB or cape Moreton, but the westerly wind is going to give a good account of itself, so too far offshore is likely to be messy. Goldy on Saturday if anyone else is going?

Sunday for me also, might o/n Saturday, either Northern bay or off Mooloolaba. Be interesting for sure after the rain and big seas.

Just don't move around at night Jeremy. No doubt you will be accounting for possible logs and debris floating around. I think all you blokes going Sunday are leaving me all the fish to myself Saturday. After all, W/SW winds flatten out the water, might not be too bad if I leave at gentlemans hours.

See what happens ...

I'm most likely hitting the 24 fathom then moving out to 36 and maybe 50. swell is predicted at .5 and seas under 1 meter.

Now just to find my deckies:(

Yeah, earlier in the week it looked like the wind was going to give us a window later in the day, but now it really doesn't look like that. Saturday trip is cancelled. There is a heap of stuff I can do, maybe even mow the grass!

Sunday I am looking at going out SPB but will be waiting to Sunday morning to see what its like.. Probably wouldn't be heading out to early so the crap may be a bit easier to see.

Hey gents,

Is anyone leaving from Scarborough?? Going up past Cape moreton??

I have never been out up that far and was looking to see if there was anyone I could tag along with just to learn the routes. I am not looking to steal anyones fishing spot that is for sure.

I have a haines signature 23ft with a newly rebuilt Yamaha 200 on it. It would just be nice to take the old girl out for a trip.

If you could let me a know a time and what not that would be much appreciated :) :)

You will already know I have cancelled fishing this weekend, but I understand you wanting to tag along with someone else. I did that exact trip a few months ago, by myself, no other boats, solo, 1st time from Scarby, was a little nervous but I did the research and asked a few other experienced boaties who know the area, just make sure you have enough water in the tide, not dead low. Once out of the leads, I zoomed the GPS right out and pointed a straight line for Comboyuro Point. That is essentially Bulwer, but the sw tip. 27.069400787, 153.365997314

At very low tide there might be a few shallow banks just out of Scarby, I noticed the sounder came up quite shallow, but plenty enough water to stay on the plane right over the top of them. It's quite a long way over, I was quite surprised. But you will see the markers 3/4 the way over, one behind the other. Might be the M8 and M9 from memory. Stop at the 1st one, there is a lot of live bait there if you need any. Then you just follow the shoreline along, keeping a safe distance from any breakers obviously. I found the journey not in the least bit challenging, although I am a novice to this route, I think there is nothing to worry about in good conditions. I stress "In good conditions" as Comboyuro Point can show some ugly slop there from time to time, wind against tide, as many have reported. The size of your boat should eat it up.

After missing out last Sunday due to a Sensa-brake problem.
I am thinking of heading to Tangalooma Saturday around 1.00ish for the night and then NE of Cape Moreton Sunday morning (first time out there in my boat)

Taking the Better half incase it gets cold and she wants to see some Whales.
Looking at Seabreeze and it should be nice and flat.

Any body thinking of heading over that way ??

Why start another thread ... 1 week later It's all systems go , leaving either Scarby early for Hutchies, or Manly through North channel south passage Bar.. Have not made my mind up yet. 2 deckies already teed up and ready to go, but it will be early .... should be at either ramp 5 - 5.30am
