nicko233, This may be of some help, I have a FCV620 wired to a Raymarine A50 and the wiring is relatively simple, and won't be that much different to you're set up. Find the NMEA 0183 input wires for the 585 (Diagram S1 in the manual) you will have TD A&B and RD A&B. Now find the corresponding ones on the GP30.
Now connect the TD A&B of the 585 to the RD A&B of the GP30 and the TD A&B of the GP30 to the RD A&B of the 585 ensuring that the A wire goes to A wire and the B wire goes to B wire. Now you will have to get into you're menu's (P38 section 4.10 of the 620/585 manual) and follow the instructions. I would suggest there would be some settings in the GP30 as well.
