Little brother just bought a boat off fellow ausfish member joe09 and we are taking it up to his place of residence in Mackay next week. Just wondering if anyone can give us any gps co-ords for the reefs and islands up that way. Not asking for anyones spot x just something to point us in the right direction.
Cheers Marto

These are all my Mackay waypoints not all areas are navigable by boat or at all tides so its user beware.
Change the file extension to gdb and open in mapsource.

100km each way to the close reefs 150km to the good ones.
you would need to pick your day its a long way if it is bumpy.
I would think you would be better to spend your time around the islands.
stevens reef fishes well and is reasonably close to day trippers but if you want big GT adventures take an over nighter to bugatti reef and stretch your arms on as many big brutes as you like. there is a lagoon to over night safely in in all but the worst weather and have your radio on 16 incase you get buzzed by the coast guard. Marion reef is a bit further for doggies, hoo etc but i am gessin you will have to carry a crap load of extra fuel,Cheers Edmo

Hi all. I'm marto78's brother. Still haven't managed to get out far in the new boat yet because of the weather. Hoping early next week should be ok. Still have to work out what sort of range I have to see if the reefs are possible. I was thinking about fishing the easteren side of Penrith island and along the 50m mark. Just wondering if this area is normally produces fish and is worth the trek.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
