As long as you use a leader suited to the clarity of water, the colour of the braid does not matter one iota. The clearer the water, the longer the leader, within reason. I see no point in any leader longer than 8 feet, puts the knot a long way away from the target lure or bait that you are presenting.
Personally I use flouro yellow or flouro green braids on my reels and have zero problems with it putting the fish off.
Mono will scare fish less fishing the main line to the bait than braid would. There are times when mono is the better choice (like trolling pelagics offshore), but there are also a lot of missed finesse situations where real bites are absorbed in the stretch of the line.
Since i have adopted braid for nearly all of my fishing, my techniques and my perceptions have increased dozens of times over. I now actively fish 100% whenever I am near the water, I no longer wait for bites, I invite them and gets results a lot more than when i would drown a bait in hope. Two completely different ends of the spectrum and the braid end, I believe teaches a person to fish effectively whereas bait fishing with mono is more settled on time spent waiting for the bite. You can be a successful bait fisherman yes, but learning the art of presenting on braid will give you a lot more results.
