Braid vs mono for long casting

I have braid on all my threadline reels with no problem. I have mono on my saltist and 6500 abu overheads. I want to change to braid in the 30lb range. The reason for this is to get more thinner line on the spool allowing for a better/longer cast .What sort of casting problems should i expect if any. I am using platypus super 100 20lb mono , which is the thinnest of the "quality" mono's but after a while it gets brittle and loses performance/strength. That is the common comment on this line. I am looking at 30lb fins or suffix. Another thought was to top shot the braid with 100m of mono to avoid birds nests??
Any thoughts would be appreciated before i bought the braid.
The reels are in excellent nick and i have no problems casting these reels over 100m.

All my baitcasters are filled with braided line , I use mono only for trolling . My favourite braided line is Varivas brand .

braid makes a huge difference compared to mono in the casting stakes. especially good braid like jonli mentioned. using mono for luring feels like a big elestic band however mono still has a place for bait fishing and sport trolling. casting problems can include braid wrapping around a guide mid cast. this happens a bit to me when the wind is up and in my face. I'm guessing you are beach/rock fishing with bait. i normally wouldnt use braid for bait fishing but each to there own and if it means getting that extra distance and fish then its not a problem.

i will be lure fishing using a saltiga surf rod. The stripper guide is reversed as to not tangle.

well then braid for sure. it has less drag through the air due to low diameter. 8-)
