storing soft plastics

hey ausfisho's

i am a confessed soft plastics addict and with the squidgies and gulps i have aways just left them in there resealable bags witch are easy enough to deal with but i want to make things simpler like a tackle box for softies is there such as thing?

i have been told by a few people that the plastics will melt in a tacklebox or if the dont they will bleed into each other, is this true im only talking about the squidgie pro range in perticular

i also a big fan of gulp plastics and i know i have to keep them in packs or tubs so they can be re- juiced as such but is there a way the smell dosent leak all trough my back pack ?

any info would be greatly appreciated

Hey mate, I know plano recently released a line of tackle boxes called 'liqua lockers' also known as the 4641 series of tackle boxes. These have small sealed canasters that hold in the juices used in berkely soft plastics. This storage system is quite expensive, up to $70 per set (including several internal components). When they are more widely available the smaller containers within the main 4641 box will also be sold seperate.

From my own experience Berkely gulps have always been problematic in storage situations, the packages either leaking and/or plastics drying out. Squidgies have been alot better storage-wise, and I find the colour coding on the packs helps sort through em' when you're fishin.

Be careful, because some plastics will lose colour and or flexibility when exposed to air and they do not need to be bio-plastics to do this either.
I went down the track of worm proof boxes for communal organising the plastics, but have since dumped the idea for a series of traveller bags that incorporate a jig head box and a compartment for plastics packets and another for leaders. I have one for inshore snapper, one for larger estuary fishing and one for smaller estuary fishing, grab whichever for the trip planned.
