Hi all.
I am wondering where you get your IQFs from and whats the quality like?
I have an upcomming trip and I would like to ensure i have some good pillies.
I have purchased a box before from xxx, and I was really dissapointed.
Any advice is appreciated.

Hi mate I have been getting a couple of boxes from the Gem. Quality has been very good and staying firm for our 10 day houseboat trip.
But size is a little smaller than the bags.

Richards Brothers Seafood at Bulimba have IQF pillies in larger cartons. These are "human consumption" grade & are cheaper than "bait" grade.

I was at Lucs seafood on Friday, NO IQF's pillies but picked up up mullet fillets $5.kg (not eating quality but plenty good enough for bait)

Human Consumption Vs Bait??? Does anyone know if that means that they are just fresher, or are they processed differently?

Hi
I bought a box (15kg) from Luc's in Bulimba On Friday and used them this weekend. It is the first time I have bought wholesale and in bulk like this and I can tell you that the quality was fantastic. I repacked them into 1kg bags and took a couple of bags away for the weekend and on Sunday afternnon they were still staying on the hook. not like other rubbish that crumbles in your hand.
On the other hand I caught a yellowtail this weekend and used that for bait and it was fantastic. Does anyone know if you can buy these in any sort of number for bait?
cheers

Yes they were IQF. I was there at about 4:30. I went into the freezer with them, but I am not sure if there were others on the shelf or just that one.
cheers
