Hey all
Headed to Mackay in a couple of weeks time, Grass Tree Beech to be exact, with the Bar crusher in tow. Would love to catch a spanish or am i to late? Is there any wrecks or inshore reefs close to Grass Tree Beech or if not what sort of distance am i going to have to cover to get to some nice country?
Thanks in advance
Ryan

G'day mate, some big macks around the offshore islands. A good reef near Grassy is Sunken Reef, off Taffy Island, out from Armstrong Beach, good snapper this time of the year. There is always a boat over the reef, so you will be able to find it. And good macks off the point of Taffy.

Thanks for the heads up. Is Taffy island far from Grass Tree Beech?

Where did you steal a barcrusher from Hilly. Mate Taffy Island is south from Grasstree Beach situated off Glendower Point which is another good spot to try. Grab a chart of the area from Maritime Safety. You'd be better off putting in your boat at Campwin Beach. There is a boat ramp at perpetua point which from memory requires a half tide. On the way to taffy island and back try some of the points off freshwater point as I remember some good catches from there when I used to live up there.
Good luck

Here you go, mate, Taffy is about 15 km south.

Will be up to see the big fella in a couple of weeks on my way to Mackay so if the weather plays the game i will show him how to catch a fish out from Bundy lol.Have you been wetting yours?
