Does anyone else use Canola cooking spray as a Lube or protectant for their gear? I've been using it for ages. No problems yet, touch wood.
I use it on hooks plyer's hooks and even as a reel lube, I know it sounds a little different but at least this stuff doesn't leave that scent like other spray lubes, WD40 or RP7.
Cheers Gav.
I prefere ansell lubricant, my wife doesn't mind it either ;D
cheers tim ;)

TLS,
I have used canola spray on hooks & swivels for years also. Good on knives too but have never used it on reels.

Peter
go lightly on reels. But for internal and external use on reels no problems at all.

Mate i just read something about lube for your gear, then something about touching your wood
I just re-read it and noticed you were talking about fishing tackle and not something else.
Honest mistake ;D
cheers tim :)

you hope people see as a lure at the end of your page. It's ok we're mostly adults here, now tell the truth?
Is this what you tickle your pink snapper with?

I used to use it on my dirt bike as it made it very easy to wash when I got home.
But I guess I'll get the old can back out and start spraying my tackle with it.
Do you find your hands slip off your gear after you lube it up?:-X

Neil
Thank's good to see that there are a few of us that use the old canlola as a lube or protectant of some sort's.
Oh yeah hey Neil if you dont put too much on your gear and keep a tight grip you should be ok. (There's alway's a way of slippin in a line,I'd better slip away nuff said.)
Had a thought...... If I had've made a Poll on who use's Lube on their gear I wonder how many honest answer's would follow.? If you don't ask who's going, to Know?
Cheers Gav.

my gf doesent let me use the spray oils on our teflon coated pans because apparently the propellant in the can wrecks the teflon. Havent even thought about puting on my fishing gear

Correct. Use rice bran or other high smoke point oil. Not spray.;D;D;D;D
I`ve used a product called Pure & Simple , its good if a bit sticky ,for fishing of course

OMG....yep you boys all think with your.........lmao
ANYHOW....I use babyoil on some of my gear (DONT GO THERE::):P ) or I use canola oil , but not in that pressurised spray like pure & simple but just a pump spray...I use this on my fishing gear and my 'husband not allowed to touch it' scanpan good/expensive teflon frypans........anyhow...Im not going any further in this conversation cause it would only get downright down and dirty with every word typed....lol:o ;)

The good old baby oil. Yep that's great stuff to hone a knife with. I use it on my shooting gear. It leaves a nice luster on the barrels.
I started to use Canola because I was after an oil that didn't leave a heavy scent and wasn't too heavy or sticky...so far so good. OIL's AINT OIL's.
Cheers Gav.

Used to use "Pure and simple" on hooks, etc, but can't seem to buy it any more. Anyone got a clue as to where it's gone.
