Gday everyone,

Just thought I'd share these couple of pics of a lucky catch I had end of last year that shows what happens to a Flatz ratz 2 lure after about 30 or so barra. Had this happen to a couple of lures so far and don't really mind because they catch fish so well.

It would be nice though if the guys over at Killalure put a through body wire to join up the tow points, strengthen them up a bit for barra and the like.

You can see in thees photos, the only reason i caught this fish was because the barra was unlucky enough to snag on the middle treble after breaking free of the back treble.. only a small fish but i think it was a case of the straw that broke the camels back.. this was about fish number 60 for a week long trip around Hinchinbrook..

Can honestly say i've never had that happen to any of my flats ratz yet, from big barra through to meter+ queenies!
I must have just been lucky.

They are good lures though sometimes don't tow very straight but great for casting and cranking.

Ouch! ..... I've never seen that either - a great barra & jack lure in the estuary.

I have seen it on quite a few of them.
Gee they are a good lure but they can be bad for that.I havnt fished with them for a while but when it did happen I used to just take the bib back and get a new lure.
If I had to take one lure up North for the creeks it would be the red, blue and silver deep diver Flatz Ratz.Great lure.

can't honestly say that I have seen this either, I have a few flatz ratz and river ratz that would be close to ten years now and still catch fish, I love 'em.
How old is the lure? maybe the newer ones aren't as well built as the older models, don't know!!!

That one was only about 3 days old when i started using it. The gold paint wears off pretty quickly but it had a very hard life for those three days (only on fish though)

Had two do it to me now but still well worth using the lure - they are great for flicking at snags, seem to bounce over most things, get nice and deep quick and dart from side to side quite nicely to stir up the barra.

Favourite colour is gold but the green one is also good..

I feel your pain Richard, I've had it happen as well. I wasn't as lucky though to stay attached with the front treble.

They are a gun lure for flathead and grinners around mud :P
