Can anybody tell me the difference beyond the standard specs for these two reels? The normal 30 (SA model, not the Z) is cheaper and lighter with a higher ratio but the 30 T actually pulls more line in per turn.
I'm keen to know where the extra weight is, is it the spool?
Which is better?
Thanks in advance.

The 30T is a narrow version with a taller spool, thats what the T stands for. Thats why it has a higher retrieve rate with a lower gear ratio. Its basically the same reel as the saltiga Z40 but without the adjustable handle and auto gear engage that the Z40 has. Never touched a normal 30 so can't comment on that sorry.

I've just been down the same track. I bought the 30T with the narrower spool larger spool and lower gearing. It gives more power for the same retrieve and balances better on the rod.

Hi Dave, what rod did you put it on, caught much on it? Still got the Fisher?
Cheers Ben
