G’day
Headed out Saturday morning leaving home at 4am with just the three of us for a overnighter out of mooloolaba. We headed north hitting the usuall spots picking up a few fish here and there but a lot quieter during the day then normal. This all changed from about 4pm till dark with the pearlies going off there brain. We where anchored up on a show after about an hour of sounding around looking for something with that little bit of a difference on the sounder.
First drop to the bottom not much action but could see good fish on the sounder a few metres up off the bottom so I wound up about four metres sat the rod in the holder and waited for a while, that’s when the biggest pearlie of the trip 3.7kg hit my rod and from then on it was just crazy. No sooner did you hit the bottom you just had to wind up and bang they smashed anything in front of them. This went on for a couple of hours realising heaps of fish hoping for the snapper to come on the chew but they didn’t really happen.
We moved after a while an anchor on a snapper spot and camped here for the night getting a few squire and some other odds and ends until eight oclock and then headed for home. Great trip had by all looking like a good season.
Cheers pete...
