Have read a few reports and thought better make a contribution.
Haven't had much opportunity lately so took the opportunity yesterday to head out and try for a few red emperors.
Young fella and i left harbour at 11:00am and travelled out to our spot approx 60 k's east of rosslyn bay.
We got straight onto very qood quality Red Jews between 6 and 8 kg. Son caught his first Chinaman fish, 13 kg and tested him. He also landed a 15kg cod. Fairly mixed bag:
9 x Red Jew
1 x Red Emperor
1 x Sweetlip
2 x Cod
Tackle - Saltist 40H, Fin Nor 50lb Jib Rod, 80lb braid.
Rigs - standard 2 hook paternoster made from 80lb leader material, 9/0 Gamakatsu Hooks.
Bait - top hook (pilchard), bottom hook (squid, mac tuna cube).
We started to run out of room in eskies, and i was starting to think about how long to fillet etc. Left grounds at about 5:15pm arriving back in harbour at about 7:00am in glassed out conditions.
