Currumbin Rock 26 March

With the weather holding beautifully, I took off early from work on Fri arvo.
Got to my spot @ Currumbin 4:30pm and threw out my tried and tested whole pillie on 6/0 Mustad with 15cm steel wire trace.
Half an hour of NOTHING, and then the 1st chopper was on the line.
It went quiet again on bait, whilst the spinno's hooked another 3 choppers between them.
By 6pm I was alone on the rocks and decided to call it a night.
On the retrieve I got hammered and landed a 40cm chopper. The next 3 casts all had the same effect ..... retrieve the pillies at pace and WHAMMO .... 3 more choppers in the bucket ;)
By now I was seeing by the light of the moon only, and it was really time to pack up. "Last cast", I said ..... & 10 sec later a very decent tug o' war was happening.
A few minutes later and my PB for the Rock was landed (58cm)
So the family have feasted on fresh tailor for dinner and brekki:)

Went back tonight hoping for more of the same ..... and not a single bite .... that's Tailor-fishin' for you :-[

Thanks mate, I guess Currumbin Rocks must be a better spot to fish from. What tide and what's the best wind to fish Currumbin rocks is best?

I've never been there and would not know where the turn off is.

I normally drive down the Pacific Highway and not the Gold Coast Highway towards Byron Bay.

I normally drive down the Pacific Highway and not the Gold Coast Highway towards Byron Bay.

Mate - Exit 92 or 93 (Palm Beach/Elanora) and head for the east (Sea). Once you hit the Gold Coast Highway head south and as you cross the Currumbin Creek Bridge you will see the rock to the east at the bar of the creek.
I find a SE gets best results - but you also get the wettest:D
I will be there Thurs 5pm - planning to catch Tailor until dark, and then head to the gutters into the night for the incoming tide in search of my first Aussie JEW !! Wish me luck !!

well done mate i have also caught my best tailor on pillies being retrieved at a steady pace it allso does'nt hurt if quite to use a bullet sinker just to get a bit deeper and i vary the size to vary the depth.tight lines

Thanks for the directions Robvee, I'll have to give that place a try during weekdays as opposed to weekends, less of a crowd.
