Finally legal jew

Hit the river up tonight was having a general thrash at anything keen to belt a lure with the man in form with the battler rod, i got a lesson in catching jew as they have been to hard to pull of a legal size lately, 2 cans in dan was tight to a good fish on his lumo green thing so im on net duties and up comes a lovely golden jewy, smidgen under 80 on the ruler, after releasing a heap of his mates in the 40-74cm range for a good few months it was his unlucky day, we left before i evened the score. boat had a strong jewie smell as we headed for home could get used to that.

nice one, its good to see a legal one, now i know what they look like!!! its annoying when there are so many around just under legal size but i think raising the size has been a good thing , in a couple of years the average size should be 80-90cm cant wait for that

Good to see a legal size fish. There seems to be plenty of soapies around so hopefully this sort of fish will be more common in years to come

cheers guys he fought hard and almost had me done for at one point. One thing i have noticed is that the average size of the soapies i've been getting has been going up, the same time last year i was getting heaps of rats 40-50cm, now alot of the fish are 60-70cm.

I dunno if thats anything but luck or my mind making things up but maybe the new legislation is taking effect already

excellent !!!!! I have not smelt the jew in a while ....... time to do some targetting me thinks.
Will try for some tailor after work ..... then have a few fillets for jew-bait on the weekend ...... will keep you guys posted.

been a while since I have seen a legal Jew!!
you are not wrong about the soapies currently around the place..
heaps at the pin , have heard of over 30 being caught in the past fortnight
with none able to be kept..
lets hope they get a chance to reach the new legal size as I know of certain fishos that are still keeping them at the old size!!
