from what i know i think your actually meant to match the lure to the water colour because when you think about it, little hardy heads and that match thier colour to that of the water so they camouflage.

Colour is a difficult subject because everyone has prefered colours, I mainly only use white squidgy Pro's with S Factor. I have used pretty much every colour you can buy on Flatties but white is my number one colour....

I am happy to do you a favor, tell me this great flatty spot and i will go and do some testing on colours to use in this spot...LOL!!!

Yes, I will help you Luckystrike.
If they are liking the Nuclear Chicken (Princess in the Squidgies range) and they stop, try a neutral colour.
When they go off that, go back to your fav.
Throw some hardbodies also, if they have gone off the plastics.
They can sometimes excite them into action again.

In my experience, flathead love bright colours on bright days and in dirty water. On overcast days go the darker colours. In clear water - try gold, silver or natural.

Make sure you use 14 - 20lb leader, when throwing plastics, or the big 'uns will bite you off 9 times out of 10.

Good luck,

Matt

I get away with the pumkinseed and watermelon colours in the berkley range unless you after massive lizards I usually fish around the 8 - 10lb leader, I get alot more action and yes, you may loose a few but you get alot more interest from other fish also... bit of a trade off. tight lines.
p.s I got my PB of 68cm on 8lb leader.

i find gulp sardine and watermelon pearl work best in the rivers nuclear chicken and blue pepper neon in clearer water and a 12 lb hard leader.

Yeah nice brother, there is plenty more fishing left in this black duck LoL Just trying to say its not so important to fish a heavier leader... tight lines

I reckon flathead go for anything you put in front of them, regardless of colour or shape! Place a wooden stick in front of them and they will take it!
