4.30 yesterday arvo and the rain was coming down pretty solid but as they say "No pain No gain " so we hooked on the boat with the option of chasing a threadie and against all common sense drove to Colmslie ramp with the option to fish farther towards the city. Last light we fished a few D40fs and pulled a few bream but that wasn't our target fish for the night. Still they were reasonable bream but we left them biting to target threadies. Thats where we lost the plot. Sounded around but couldn't find any bait or larger fish so we picked a nice bit of ground at the mouth of breakie creek hoping we might jag a stray. We kept reassuring ourselves as the rain bucketed down we would be rewarded for our outstanding committment;D ;D NO Chance. We both sat in the open boat laughing at how much fun we were having until Jeremy turned around to comment on the next deluge heading our way. The committment seemed to disapear as the dash back to Colmslie looked so appealing. Wet, Cold and Eyes stinging as I gave the 40 horses their head, I think we were both thinking we should have kept tossing HBs at the bream;D .

Axl... We should have stuck with the bream they were looking good following the lures and smacking them at times inches from the hull. I think as the light deminished they were coming on.

A few prawns being caught last night at the ramp with a few good sized models on display.

At least you had a go, Did you put any live prawns out for a swim or only lures? Cheers Andrew

Chief thanks for making me feel so much better about some of the totally ridiculous trips I've done with some mates in the past in stupid weather and wind!

Truth is I guess, that it's therapy that keeps us reasonably sane, despite the pain!

I know how you feel chief.
It hit the river on Friday night for much the same.....rain, rain and more bloody rain.
Oh well, better than sitting at home getting nagged!!

Jason.

Andrew... We were using pillies with a special touch of attractant that seems to work in discoloured water but not last night. I kept thinking I may have been best heading to the mouth. Hey mate , hows that pic of the billfish you sent ;D

Hey chief nice work on the bream! I never threw a line on the weekend, was trying to do my wheel bearings on the trailer. Am feeling the effects of no fishing now tho haha! Was funny I was only thinking on Friday whilst workin in the rain how shithouse it was, yet if I was fishin in the rain I wouldn't have cared at all!

Mossy247... Yeh mate I think I haven't tried for a threadie for a while and we were focused on picking one up so we walked away from the bream. Also I knew the wife had some course today so I was going to hit that big tide hard this morning with the small lures today but the Tsunami warning threw me into 2 minds so I pulled the pin.

Jesse .. I know about working in that rain mate ;D

Good job on the fish but still you have to be happy with catching fish in the rain.

yeah that's what i like to see !!! It NEVER rains on the water ..... unless you are not catching anything then the mind starts to think about it ;D I went Sat pm on the Tweed - pretty wet out there, but with the fish on the bite I could not have been happier :-) A few dart and plenty seabream off the breakwater. Millions of baitfish - so was sure to hook a tailor or trev ...... but none around :-[ It sure beat sitting in the lounge wondering what was out there :D

Nice Bream! Mate I was sitting there on Saturday night thinking there would be some jews and threadies around, but the thought of a wet soaked night of fishing got the better of me plus having to hobble around. Next saturday night is looking pretty good, what do you think?

Duncan.. If I'm not up the coast I'll give you a yell ,will know a little later in the week ?

robvee... Thats it mate you never know if you never go, In fact I would have been quite happy in the rain if would have kept on chasing bream while they were on the chew.

Kurt.. Mate I let the tsunami warning keep me home sunday morning, That big high tide went begging. I could hear the fish calling me ;D

Chief I think you need to kick out that ugly little critter thats in the boat with ya, That was your first mistake ;D . He seems to bring bad luck to fishing, almost as bad as having a bananna in your boat haha. As you said bring on the snaps in the river, hopefully will get a few this coming season.

Booton1..... Brad as soon as those snapps are consistant and the water temp has dropped we're off on a plastics mission , we might go and leave banana boy at home. He probably won't be allowed to come anyway after he proposes at Cloud break ;D ;D

Bloody keen as chief. I have done that on the brissy river one rainy day and i noticed even with full rain the mozzy,s can still keep biting even as water runs down my legs. If we were as tuff as them we would go every day lol. Good to at least pull a few brimbo,s. Oh i have found a way to stop my tinny from leaking. I am looking at a 5 metre plate fisher and that should keep the water on the outside and me not pushing a cup in the well lol. Cheers
