Well I realise most of you fishos are on the eastern seaboard, and a West Australian dhu fish is most likely a species many of you have not seen, but I'll still take this opportunity to brag ! Just think of a dhuie as an oversized pearl perch.
I've lived in W.A. for 23 years now, my first Dhuie was caught not long after I arrived here and went 16 kg, a great fish. That was my PB until yesterday, when I hauled up a massive fish from 90 metres, it tipped the scales at an awsome 20kg. Although they do grow bigger, I'll be very lucky if I ever top this. To say I'm over the moon is an understatement. My old mate who was my deckie yesterday has been fishing W.A. waters for nearly 70 years and has not managed one this size, he was almost as excited as me. Well, I best be off now and light the barby, guess what we are having for dinner ?
Cheers, Taz.
