Well I realise most of you fishos are on the eastern seaboard, and a West Australian dhu fish is most likely a species many of you have not seen, but I'll still take this opportunity to brag ! Just think of a dhuie as an oversized pearl perch.
I've lived in W.A. for 23 years now, my first Dhuie was caught not long after I arrived here and went 16 kg, a great fish. That was my PB until yesterday, when I hauled up a massive fish from 90 metres, it tipped the scales at an awsome 20kg. Although they do grow bigger, I'll be very lucky if I ever top this. To say I'm over the moon is an understatement. My old mate who was my deckie yesterday has been fishing W.A. waters for nearly 70 years and has not managed one this size, he was almost as excited as me. Well, I best be off now and light the barby, guess what we are having for dinner ?
Cheers, Taz.

Thats a huge fish. The look along the same lines as our Pearlies so hopefully it tastes just as good

I have never caught a Dhuie, but when I was working in Perth many years ago, I had dinner at a mates place who was a keen fisho (funny that when you work in a place for a couple of months that the friends you make seem to be fishos), and he had fresh Dhufish on the menu.....they are as good as a pearly on the chew...and to my taste preferable, as i like a slightly stronger 'fishy' taste.

That is a quality fish Taz, congrats on your PB.

Cheers
Greg

PS. still trying to remember the name of the restaurant that I had the best chilli muscles I have ever eaten. Was not far from the city centre...and they brought the muscles out in a huge pot with lots of crusty bread and put a huge bib on everyone that was having them. Bloody brilliant.

No Mr Chop ...that wasnt the one....it was inland from the river...name was something like Chilli King or something like that (probably nothing like it as it was quite a while ago and the grey matter aint what it used to be....plus i was taken there by friends so didnt take a whole lot of notice of the name of the joint)
