Kyle & I left Wello Point for Peel at 4.30am in blustery conditions but the forecast was for winds to ease (and they did!).

Drifted the northern parts of Peel for one pike for Kyle and a small moses perch and a small snapper to me. Fish were scarce and very little bait on the sounder.

As the winds eased and the tide rose we decided to do some hardbody breaming along the rockwalls and mangroves. Lots of hits and a few hook-ups but no bream to the boat.

Our only success was the bycatch of a 58cm dusky flathead that was lipped on my R2S chubby when I retrieved it after clearing a wind knot. This beast gave me a great fight on 4lb line and 6lb leader. A great net shot by Kyle secured the fish!

Fish released to grow a bit bigger...

That was it for a quiet morning's fishing at Peel.

good effort lads. conditions look glorious around peel. myself & a mate were out in the northern bay & boy did the wind pick up by afternoon. couldn't raise a scale but our morning session in the river mouth produced a squillion catfish which kept us entertained i suppose.

6/10

Good days effort as i was at green and the first day i can remember not getting one touch on the plastics so i went in to 3 feet and trolled a hardbody suspending 2 inch and got 3 brim and lost a good sized one on the east end but no snapps. Cheers
