Hi Adsee,
I am glad you posted this, it reminded me to call up and ask some questions about a restriction sign post at the bedroom campsite.
Firstly to answer your question, Yabbies are quite hard work to catch anywhere down there now. It will probably take a good hour or more to get enough for a morning fish.
If you are heading out towards the pin, try the banks along the way, particularly north side of Tuleen, left of Tipplers Island.
Also there are banks in front of the bedroom campsite. The area is blue zone which means you can pump there, but the council has a sign on the beach preventing you pumping along the beach near the ameneties block:'(. I have made a few phone calls this morning, and I am waiting for the council to get back me regarding the boundaries of this sign. I will post another reply as soon as I hear something.
There is also a bank opposite where you will find yabbies. I camped there November last year and got Yabbies every pump, but a lot of small ones. Take a cast net because you will get some good live bait in there too. I recommend also taking some frozen bait as a backup and if you are fishing down there in warmer months, take your favorite tailor lures in case you come across a school of chopper tailor.
I will re-post shortly.....cheers!

yeh i have seen a similar sign next to the cabbage tree point boat ramp about not pumping yabbies on the fore shore. shame since there seems to be plenty of holes there.

The council's reply is, the signs are there to protect the public from falling in the holes because it is a high use public area. They said the signs are just put there as a precaution and have no legal ramifications. No one has ever been fined but they advise that you should keep away from the signed area anyway to protect other users. In this case, I was camped about 50 metres back towards the jumpinpin and I was getting yabbies up there. I think you should be ok up there as it is well away from where the majority of users will be landing on the beach.
I hope this helps!
Happy fishing!
Regards
Dave

Thats the one it has a flag on it
the other one is a mud- sand bank it does have bigger ones on it
you dont say you have a boat or not but if you do mate, yabbies are pretty much everywhere on the exposed banks in the pin. It wouldnt b hard to find some. I get mine on Gold and Green banks near tiger mullet channel but thats with a boat.

the bank's near the bedrooms have some massive yabbies.
if you don't have a boat, walk to the creek up from the ramp at low tide as there are yabby banks - you will also catch nice flatties up there.
On another question, i went out to jacobs well a few weeks ago. As you head out from the ramp, there is an island on the right ( the first island you pass). I recall there used to be a sign saying no fishing as it was a fish breeding area, but this sign is now gone - can you fish there? we pumped yabbies there and got some monsters.

yeh i'm not sure bout that one i never saw the sign but i'm guessing once they opened up the calypso bay channel the breeding ground would be gone
