Where are some good shark spots in redcliffe? I only fish in a kayak on scarborough reef, so shark fishing is relatively new. Heard canals hold some good bullies, and woody point jetty. Has anyone tried redcliffe jetty?

I've caught quite alot of sharks around the scarby area itself. The wire weed areas southeast of Queens where alot of the kayak guys fish holds foraging sharks also. Also fishing around any of the isloated pinnacles or reef edges will see sharks cruising through on the hunt. Large flesh baits such as mullet fillets will see you connected to a few reefies and the odd bully. Things with teeth seem to be more prevailent during the darker hours out here also. The bycatch with large baits like this can be surprising at times also.;)
Becareful in you yak though as the get fairly active. A gaff shot up under the jaw and out through with a tail grab will help you control them if you want to release them relatively unharmed, but if you want to keep one for a feed then sink the gaff and belt them hard before bringing them in the yak with you. ::) People look at me like I'm strange when I tell them I catch sharks in my kayak ;D but it is not that hard to do it safely.
Remember anything over 1.5m must be released but if your in the yak anything much over a metre gets very hard to control as they are very strong.
