yeah it was very treacherous and lots of boaties got caught out all morning in this weather. And VMR helped every boatie that came in.
must have been the same at most boat ramps on that day.

Bit silly to go out in that weather in the first place if you ask me... or at least find a ramp with a bit more protection!

hahahaha, yer mate it was hectic, i was in the side console with the tohatsu that was puttering round out the back of the pontoon there, we had no troubles getting on, me and my brother are a good team, i drive and nose it up to the trailer, he winches it whilst i keep the boat straight and were gone in less then a minute..... but i saw heaps of other boats have some trouble, just plain shi* weather.

I wasn't there early so i am only guessing the weather was very different when everyone launched. i think most were back in by 10-11am. I think it was a big mistake for those that approached the pontoon from the south. One guy almost put his entire bow over the pontoon on approach.
it was far safer and more manageable from the north approach.

I only just noticed the video in here... sorry I posted it in the general section too a couple of weeks back.
Thanks for filming it, have you got any more from that day, I am the vmr guy in the opening frame. I stayed out there for about 3 hours, it felt like it took a week to dry out after lol.

Hi Anthony, no that was all i took that day. i only just missed by about 2 seconds the guy's boat that actually landed on the pontoon then slid back. I got him just as he already started sliding back. that was on the south side of the pontoon. a big no no pulling up on that side that day :)
you guys certainly worked very hard in extreme conditions that day!
I did however take another video of that day you guys had to move the dingy out of the way that was blocking the ramp.

We really need all weather ramps in vikki point and wello point. I think we need to get our local members to watch this. If there was any injuries a little bit of litigation might just wake them up.

I'm not sure who is liable if injury were to occur? Since it's the dept of transport who make/control the ramps I guess it is them. However it would need to be proven that the facility is at fault and not the persons fault.
As there are man who get caught out in bad weather and need to get back.
I always thought a beach front would be perfect on the the south side of the ramp since there is nothing there. At least you could beach to safety. A but like how colmslie have got a ramp/beach and purpose built jetty fishing/viewing platform
