Thought id get out and have a crack at some night fishing in the esturaries and in the surf for tailor, jew and whitting around the Goldy.
Been out the last two nights fishing in the estuaries and in the surf. Did well Thurs night with a few Tailor in the rain, but last night was just insane for small whitting (18 landed) and sting rays (23 landed)... It was just ridiculous actually even with floating pillies they were that keen to have a go. I haven't seen so many rays before, ranging from half ft to three and in 3 types.
Highly recommend live baiting to keep the buggers away, dunno if its the moon/tide, but they are annoying.
Going to have another crack tonight just live baiting.
As for other reports i have heard of people landing a few kingies around the spit, live bait is the go.
One more tip, Aerogaurd.. the mozzies are in force.
Even with no fish of size, was good to land something. ::)
Good luck!

I have found the vermin come out to play on the full moon. Lots of sharks and Rays to keep you amused

Sounds like you had a ball mate. I'm going down to the Spit tomorrow to have a crack at the whiting on the king tides.

Cheers,

No good mate.
Went again tonight and ripped it.
Caught 6 Tailor in 2 hours... missed heaps of bites helping out tourists with their gear, annoying but hey.
They were hitting pretty hard, miss 2 bites and you have lost ya bait.
And only ONE sting ray tonight!

I hit up Collaroy beach with some fresh worms late afternoon yesterday and fished until it was dark, one lonely whiting! looked undersize, didn't have the ruler or the memory of what was legal so he went back in.
