Hi guys, I have some cousins up from Sydney and wanted to take them fishing on my boat this comming Sunday. I have a few ok spots but nothing special. I rarely fish around southport and all that but thought I might take them out. I was wondering if anyone could give me some good spots to go fish as I want to get a few fish for dinner. Any help will be great. We are targeting flattys, bream, whiting, queenys and all that. Wouldn't mind out the heads if anyone has some coordinates but depends if it is smooth. Also wouldn't mind jumpingpin. Really want to get a few fish on the day and have a good day out. All help will be great also as to what bait and stuff to use around that area.

Hey mate, i been goin down there for past few weekends, Just mainly using yabbies for bait, pump them from back of wavebreak at low tide, unreal spot. then when the hightide comes fish over the sand there, got a few good size whiting there, best was 33cm. also the island south of wavebreak over the sand there is good, got few lizards and whiting, ended up gettin 24 whiting keepers in 1 day so did alright. even the north side of wavebreak up from where the big boats lay close to the 6 speed sign there we got a heap. but yeah if anyone else knows any spots round there for something a little bigger that would be sweet.
good luck

Deep sea John.
I can't give advice unless I ask what time of the day you plan to try fish it? Personally, I would not chase after a hundred dollars if you said you saw it floating north of Wavebreak island at Sunday lunch time. Unless you are a very experienced boatie, know your right of way when head on with either a sale boat, a dozen jetskis, a jetboat or seaplane I would avoid anywhere around wavebreak island, especially north of it.
Same goes for the seaway entrance, I came back in from an offshore last Saturday, and the boat chop at the entrance was more rough than I experienced during the entire day offshore, and much more risky of having a collision too. There was an incident involving two boats within the next two days I beleive. Only fish these areas really early, such as before 1st light, then move somewhere else when the crowd come out to play.
Look at the tides, if it is outgoing tide, head up to the council chambers and park yourself at the end of "The Prominade" which looks directly opposite the gold coast council chambers. There is a deep hole there, always has bream, caught my PB jack there, and it's out of the main traffic. Yabbies or anything fresh, and there is a good sandbank for whiting just opposite in the main channel.
