I've seen that all to close up and personal..
here's a photo of a nice jack, and then another photo of what he did to me !
I must say, they have very quick, strong jaws that drive those teeth down to the bone very quickly.

I have had problems with the last couple I have caught "snapping" in my environet.
Takes a while to get them jaws open and unpin their teeth, nasty stuff.
Would never, ever turn me off trying to catch them!

Richard what are the covers you have for your hands?
I take it they are to protect them the the bright shinny demon in the sky.
I always wear gloves in the yak, but feel a bit daft in the boat with the gloves on and they look like they would give you a lot of freedom of finger movement.

Yeah they are just some half-glove things that cover the back of your hands and wrist, they have open palms and just 3 little loops of string to go around your thumb, middle finger and pinkie. Once you've had them on for a little bit you almost forget that they are there.
They manage to keep the sandflies and sun off the back of your hands while maintaining good free movement and feel. I found that because i was washing my hands a bit it would wash the sunscreen off and I'd get burnt.
I just got mine from BCF for about $20 i think. Dip them in the water every now and then when it's really hot and they are nice and cool too. They don't protect you from jacks though :)
found this site which has a few photos of them - http://www.protecsun.com.au/products/parmless_gloves/397/1

Hehehe, I've had a 55cm jack snap like that as I've put him back in the water via lip grips. The bugger nearly took off with my grips! :O
