Anchor query

Hi all,

Have a 4.15m horizon tinny. Space is limited so i am going to buy a stainless folding anchor. Question is 1.5kg or 2.5kg?

never been a real fan of those, but I guess to answer your question, go the bigger one, always better to have more holding power than less.

Good luck! As Noelm says, go bigger. Not that I've even see one that works - they might be ok for rubber duckies or jet skis -- but boats???

Mate, that is not much more than a yak pick. I have had several tinnies in the 3.9 to 4.3 range and after trial and error always used nothing less than 4kg (reef or sand pick) with at least a couple of metres of chain.

Last thing you need is to drag when you are onto them!

hi all, just thought I'd throw it out there. I ended up buying a gal dipped anchor and it works fine in the mud and gravel. 4m+ of run and not a drama yet. Havent tried sand yet and probably still wouldnt trust it as an overnight anchor. Just in case

Newbie dumb question time.... um, er, how often would you loose an anchor??

I cant imagine how unless you are using it on reefs... and then its supposed to be a reef type... or am I missing an obvious point?

And now I have no doubt jinxed myself.... :)
