I am presently making jigheads from a Do it Mould which has five cavaties for jigheads from 1/4oz to 1oz and recommended hook sizes 1/0 to 5/0 Eagle Claw hooks.

I wish to use better quality heavy gauge hooks but only Owner size 3/0 and 5/0 fit the mould. I have a box of Owner 3/0 at a $1 a pop. Ausfish member Nico.d. R was kind enough to dremmel out the little points that hold the hook eye in place so now any brand of jig hook will fit the mould cavaties.

These jigheads are for offshore use and I need a strong hook so I purchased a box of heavy gauge Gamakatsu Jig 90.R.B.H.W.5/0 hooks only to find that a 5/0 Gamakatsu is the same size as an Owner 3/0. Looks like I will need a box of Gamakatsu 6/0 or 7/0 but can't find a tackle store in Brisbane that stocks them in that size.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Cheers

Barry,

We get ours from Tackleworld @ Sandgate.
Ask the boys there and they get them in for you.
We had the same problem with our moulds, we did the same to fix them !!
If you get stuck let me know i will have a look at what we have.

Good luck

You do need to make a few jigheads for it all to pay off !
